The new feature of Air India is so cool that we are excited to tell you all you should be knowing about it. This feature tracks your baggage in real time to tell you the location it is currently at. That means you know where your luggage is at in the duration from your departure to arrival.

Why did Air India launch this new feature of real – time luggage tracking?

Recently, one of Air India’s passengers boarded her flight from the USA to India. She was an Indian scholar from the University of California. She put up a complaint that she had to arrive bagless at the Bengaluru airport because the airline forgot to load her checked luggage in San Francisco’s departure airport.

This was the response issued by Air India to the regular increase of complaints about baggage non – delivery, loss and delay.

Where can you find this new real – time luggage tracking feature launched by Air India?

Air India added this aspect to both its website and mobile app. Now, you can travel via cheap flights to Kolkata from USA after booking with us easily while tracking your luggage’s location.

It is available under the Book And Manage tab on the official airline’s website. After you get your bags checked in, you can click on ‘Track Your Bags’ which opens up a new page. Here, you need to enter your last name and your booking reference number, or the flight number and bag tag number.

Then, click on the ‘Submit’ button and you’re set up with real time notifications about the status of your bags from the drop off point to your destination.

For Air India’s official mobile app

You can check the ‘My Trips’ section of Air India’s mobile app for this tracking feature. All you need to do is scan the barcode given on your baggage receipt and you’re set to receive notifications about your luggage’s whereabouts.

How does Air India’s real time baggage tracking feature work?

This new feature works within 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure after you get your bags checked in. This continues until 24 hours after your scheduled flight arrival at your destination.

If you plan to undergo a domestic and international leg of the journey together. Air India lets you track the bags for the whole leg of the journey – from the first to last seamlessly. However, you need to ensure that the domestic to international leg or the international to domestic leg of your itinerary are ticketed together. If it isn’t, this feature will only work for one leg of the journey.
